Principal's Welcome

I am entering my third year at the head of the Franco-Cypriot School with immense pride in the results achieved in 2022/2023 and an unwavering determination to continue our efforts to maintain the course of excellence.

With a 100% pass rate at the baccalauréat, a major Excellence Scholarship and prestigious further studies (Cours Florent, Sciences-Po, engineering schools, etc.), our students have once again been our best ambassadors. Their success testifies to the quality of the education they receive and is our greatest source of pride.

Buoyed by this momentum, the Franco-Cypriot School continues to grow, with no fewer than 427 students enrolled for the 2023-2024 school year and a team strengthened by high-quality profiles. Several teachers with tenure from the French Ministry of Education have joined us and the administrative team has also grown, with a common objective: to maintain the quality of teaching and the culture of excellence that the school and the AEFE hold dear.

With 580 establishments in 139 countries, the AEFE is now the world's leading international education network and embodies the humanist values that are essential to the development of its students (tolerance, equality, curiosity, critical thinking, etc.). The strength of the network also gives all our students the opportunity to follow a seamless education from nursery school to the baccalauréat, as part of a recognised and enriching training programme.

For 2023-2024, we have set ourselves the goal of further enriching the School's offer by working in particular around 3 major pillars:

  • Development of multilingualism : PARLE courses (adapted and reinforced foreign language courses) in primary school, ELCE option (European Language and Culture Education) which foreshadows the forthcoming opening of a French International Baccalaureate, British section.
  • Developing pupils' sense of community and culture : choir and orchestra, musicals, numerous projects run by the CDI team (drama club, literary prizes, awareness-raising activities, theme days, etc.), cultural outings, school trips, ADN AEFE exchange programme, etc.
  • Strengthening links between the school teams and families through more regular and transparent communication.

Mr Zahri, Deputy Head, and I are aware that the success of the French-Cypriot School is only possible thanks to the ongoing involvement and support of its community. We would therefore like to extend our warmest thanks to the parents of the students, the staff of the school, the French Embassy in Cyprus, the French Institute of Cyprus, the AEFE, the association Nicosia Accueil - Vivre à Chypre and all our regular partners.

The team at the Franco-Cypriot School joins me in wishing you an excellent school year and reaffirming its determination to work towards the success and fulfilment of your children.
